Yes, of course, Playing is playing. That's why I specifically used the phrase "musical numbers" which I meant to refer to all the music in the show, not just the "songs." (BTW - "underscoring" is a much more common term than "underplaying," which sounds more like deliberately playing very softly or slowly, or without energy. Most often one says "underscoring" or "incidental music.")
My point is still the same, lol, I'm generally happier in a show where there's less time between music cues - or even in shows where it's wall-to-wall music. You have to get in the frame of mind/body to know you're going to play a whole act without stopping, but usually time goes by pretty quickly once you're used to it. |
