from the outside, nothing "needs" to be written.
from the inside, if you're the one with something in your brain, sometimes you need to get it out of there (like this post)
disclaimer, neither i nor the person i saw the musical with were acquainted with the movie.
i enjoyed the musical (especially for free since my boss didn't realize he'd gotten matinee tickets and let us take off the afternoon to use them)
i remember liking Chris Fitzgerald, Andrea Martin, Schyluer (sp?) Hensley and Fred Applegate. Sutton was good, but her accent was ALL over the place (as can be heard on the cast recording) and Roger Bart was okay, but nothing special. Megan Mullaly's voice was nails on a chalkboard for me by that time, and i found her annoying. the ensemble did good work in my opinion and i thought the show worked fine, even in that barn of a theater. |
