| I don't recall hearing anyone pronounce Lyceum any other way so I am not sure what that's all about. I took your original post to be in the nature of a fever dream brought on by the extreme heat of the day. Others seem to have engaged you seriously (even though you did mention the dream part). In any case, I agree about Simon. I think the track record on productions in this century has pretty much borne that out, and I include the present one which is successful for reasons having nothing to do with the playwright. I don't think the material has held up even among those who experienced the heydey of his work contemporaneously |
