GoldDerby.com interviews 7-time Primetime Emmy nominee Nathan Lane on his latest recognition for Hulu's ''Only Murders in the Building.''
Lane dishes about his Emmy submission: ''The Boy From 6G.'' In it, the 3-time Tony winner plays Teddy, a producer of a podcast, and it focuses on his relationship with his adult deaf son, James Caverly. (Caverly was the acclaimed deaf actor who just played Harold Hill in the Olney Theatre's ''The Music Man'' in Olney, Md.) Lane discusses the challenge of learning sign language for the special episode, which was creatively done without any dialogue. Plus, he raved about working with Caverly, who was equally Emmy-worthy (but probably missed the cut because he isn't as well-known).
''The Boy From 6G'' also featured a poignant flashback between Lane and Nicolas Vitucci, as his 10-year-old son. Lane plays a father listening to ''Soliloquy'' from the cast album of ''Carousel.'' He puts his headphones on the boy, wishing he could will the gift of hearing to his son, but he cannot. |
