Great as Gertrude Stein, and I dearly wish I could have seen her Falstaff.

I never followed her voice over career, but remain amazed at how she was able to reinvent herself. I fondly remember her shenanigans on the Make Room for Daddy as well as many other sitcoms. I even remember she and Brian Keith who were the guest players on the game show "You Don't Say," which was played similarly to Password. After she gave more than a couple of good clues to the guest who didn't get the answer, Ms. Carroll dropped her head on her arms in exasperation, and stayed there. When Keith's clue was similarly mistook by his partner, he dropped his head over Carroll's!

But more importantly was how this TV comedienne came back to off-Broadway with Gertrude Stein x3, was taken seriously as an actress, and had a whole new career. I believe she lived in DC, and was known for her interpretations of Shakespeare, among other classic roles. RIP!

So, so wonderful as Gertrude Stein and in a stock production of Something's Afoot (went to see it twice in a week I enjoyed it so much). RIP

I was pianist ("Brother Jon") to Ms. Carroll's Reverend Mother a few times in the Boston sit-down production of Nunsense in the 1990's (back when the Charles Playhouse housed actual theatre, not just Blue Man Group). I was only the sub pianist at the time, it wasn't yet my full time gig, but getting to play for Pat was a privilege. She was wonderful.

Rest in peace, Rev...

In Washington, D.C. for a conference in 1990 I was lucky to see her Falstaff. What a performance. This was no stunt casting but acting that was close to genius.

Absolutely! I also saw that performance. She returned to DC to play Volpone and, later, the Stage Manager in Our Town.
