Much LOVE for Beanie!
Posted by: KingSpeed 03:28 am EDT 08/02/22

This video shows what a loving environment there has been backstage at Funny Girl while so many people are trashing it on the outside. How lucky of Beanie to get to work with people who love her this much. Nothing to be embarrassed about. As I've said before, I was in a critical failure on Broadway many moons ago but on the inside, nobody cared about that. We were having too much fun. I don't think bad reviews or lack of Tony nominations ruin the chemistry of a show backstage like people think they do.

"An attitude of extreme defensiveness and self-justification based on an often exaggerated sense of being under persistent attack from others."

I never heard backstage rumors concerning "Funny Girl".
Only criticism I've heard is about what is on the stage of the August Wilson Theater

I was schooled on FB - by someone who did not see the show - that her work environment made it “impossible to continue.” No basis for that; the cast went on supportive record and she was cheered 8 times a week. I heard one; mid song applause. But my favorite this morning: “people are using her singing as an excuse. The criticism was really about her being a different body type.” Two people said that. The vocal critique was actually body shaming? This casting now inspires sheer mythology.

There will be a book or Vulture/Vanity Fair expose. But of course, the production’s story is far from over.
