There were cameras at POTUS tonight (and some of y'all undersold it!)

Some of y'all undersold POTUS. I'm so glad that a slot in my brief NY trip opened up unexpectedly and that I decided to get a last minute ticket to POTUS. What unbridled joy. I can't remember the last time I laughed that consistently. And the packed house seemed to be aligned. I went in expecting to be mildly amused and occasionally chuckle. Instead my face was *literally* hurting from laughing by the end. And that communal experience of not only laughing -- but laughing hard -- feels so good. People were walking on air leaving the theatre.

And, while I love Rachel Dratch, I'm not sure I'd agree that she steals the show. In fact, I was impressed with how well balanced everything was -- every single one of these brilliantly funny actresses got to shine, which is not an easy thing to pull off -- no doubt thanks to Selina Fillinger's crackling dialogue and Susan Stroman's smart direction. I'd love to see them reunited for another show in the future. If any actress might have "run away" with the show, it might have been Julie White who was in fine form. She received the loudest ovation of the night.

It's a shame the show is closing, as WONDERFUL as this cast is, I'm not sure that they're entirely irreplaceable. I could imagine it being such a treat to see again with a new cast of gifted comedic actresses. If you've been sitting on the fence about this one -- don't! Get to the Shubert! For those who can't make it, I noticed two things tonight... one that Selina Fillinger's bio noted that she's developing a feature film for Netflix AND I saw several video cameras capturing the show tonight. This is total speculation on my part, but I wonder if those cameras belong to Netflix, too.

Have there been any rumblings about future productions? I imagine this cast would make a mint for the producers in a sit-down production in LA. Any rumblings about a tour?

(Oh, and I know that several of you DID enthusiastically recommend this show, and thank you for those recommendations! Between POTUS, Fat Ham and Into the Woods, I've laughed a lot this week and it has felt SO GOOD!)
