| Was at a wedding reception two decades ago and my other half ( who rarely speaks to celebs since he works for them ) went up to Mary Rodgers and praised her son Adam's "Floyd Collins". She just turned and walked away ( I guess she was thirsty ). I repeat this tale for the same reason I do the one of Lily Tomlin paying the salaries of all her Booth Theater usherettes when she took a 3 week vacation. |

| I ran into Mary on the number 10 bus decades ago--the 70s, I think. We had a very nice conversation. Not a long one, but pleasant. At the time, a friend was writing a show with her. I told my friend to mention my chatting with Mary on the bus. When I asked my friend what Mary said about our meeting, she said Mary's response was, "I have never been on the number 10 bus." I got to know her a little some years later, but I chose not to bring up the number 10 again. | |

| Learned decades too late from my high school music teacher how much Mary Rodgers had loved my performance as Winifred in our production of ONCE UPON A MATTRESS...wish I had known, having at age 5 made everyone think I had learned to read when I memorized every page of her THE ROTTEN BOOK. SO looking forward to reading this memoir!! | |

| Back in the late '90s, when in was on sick leave from my job , due to a temporary bipolar break, i saw the trailer for the king and i cartoon, I sent her an embarrassingly lengthy letter about how much the ,56 film meant to me and my family; I forgot about it as soon as i sent it' so i was surprised to get a nice note from her. She said she agreed with me and would send my comments over to the boys at the office, After she passed away i read so many tributes in the Tines, That this sort of kindness was typical of her | |
