I'm jealous you got to see Bernardi do it!
But yes, I agree, even if I've never seen one of the *great* Tevyes live before... I saw Molina and Fierstein in the 2000s revival... I liked both enough, but neither were quite as good in the role live as Skybell. And I didn't make it to the Bart Sher revival... seemed like a standard revival with an unexciting casting choice (he's great but I'm not quite a big a fan of his as so many in the way fan community).
My sense of the role mainly comes from the original cast album and from the movie (which I've seen many times). |
