| So happy that Brian d'Arcy James is back on a Broadway stage, and in a Stephen Sondheim musical, to boot. In a new interview, James chats about ''Into the Woods,'' the loss of Sondheim and returning to theater in a COVID world. Given his estimable career, it's surprising that ''Into the Woods'' might be his first Sondheim role on Broadway. (Or am i overlooking any?) His Wikipedia entry says he once played Young Buddy in a 1995 revival of ''Follies'' (at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle). (On-screen, it's ironic that such a terrific singer played Officer Krupke, a non-singing role, in Spielberg's 2021 movie of ''West Side Story.'') |
