The song feels like an attempt at a Kinky Boots vibe but you feel the heavy lifting. It struck me as a weak clone of the successful “My Strongest Suit” in Aida. It’s all hook no build. And that’s the teased out hit.
It’s a show in dire need of a top shelf score to justify its existence. And then maybe a bankable star in the Streep role. I say that as a die hard Leavel fan. |
