| I agree with your take on the show, however Mr. James would have been ineligible anyway since he didn't open the Broadway version of the show, doing Shrek instead. Similarly, he didn't transfer with Hamilton in favor of Something Rotten. Like Linda Lavin, he is a terrifically talented performer who leaves award-winning roles for others in his wake. | |

| Well, except that neither Dan nor King George led to Tony awards for the actors who took over those parts. And James was nominated for Tonys for both Shrek and Something Rotten. So he left Tony nominated roles in order to take on other Tony nominated roles. | |
