It played at the State Theater (aka Koch) at Lincoln Center.
There was a movie with Tony Tanner that had a limited circulation. And a TV version with Peter Scolari. None of these productions captuted the over-the-top performance by Anthony Newley. Few male performers have been willing to go as far as Newley did wtih emothional expression. He made Judy Garland look like Virginia O'Brien. |
