| The number was written for Sydney Chaplin in the original Broadway show but dropped during out of town previews. The number was rewritten for the 1968 movie but wasn't recorded or filmed. Here is more info about the number from the Barbra Archives site (posted below) - it seems they were trying to resurrect it for the movie with a new lyric but again it didn't make the cut: "Scene 30. Cut Song. “Temporary Arrangement” “Temporary Arrangement” was a song originally written for Nick Arnstein to sing in the Broadway play, but it was cut during out-of-town tryouts. Jule Styne and Bob Merrill retooled the song for the movie and Omar Sharif, adding an introduction. In the final screenplay, Nick’s solo begins right after the scenes at Keeney’s Music Hall. Set in a hotel room, Nick and the Bellboy unpack his suitcases and set up the room with beautiful things: a Spanish shawl, a folding shade over the bare light bulb, a crystal cigarette box, and a blue marble egg on the bureau." | It was also put back for the national tour, but in a different spot than where had been when it was (it seems) performed once in public, at the single preview in Boston in 1964. But at some point during the tour it was cut again. | |
