Non profit organizations are sometimes a scam, even when operating within the parameters of the tax code. A whole lot of people get really rich heading up or working for non-profits. Or make money doing business with them. Certainly not all non profits, and not just in the arts. It's a major scandal, in my opinion. I quit supporting my local PBS station (both financially and as a volunteer) after discovering how well paid much of the staff is, and all the luxe perks thrown around. I know little about the Oskar Eustis situation; this is just a general point.
