Some of those 2014 Tony voters might've agreed with you; they gave Best Score to Jason Robert Brown's ''The Bridges of Madison County.''

Which was rare. Best Score almost always goes to a Best Musical nominee, but ''Bridges'' wasn't nominated there.

Two other exceptions that won the Tony for Best Score but weren't Best Musical nominees are ''Aida'' (2000) and ''Gigi'' (1974).

(I'm not including the 2021 Tonys, where all of the Best Score nominees came from plays, and no book musicals qualified.)
