For the record, the Tony-nominated director of ''Those Were the Days'' was Eleanor Reissa. (I suspect Reissue might've been AutoCorrect at work!)
Out of curiosity, I looked up Reissa's most recent Broadway credit, and it was as an actress/understudy for Paula Vogel's ''Indecent'' (2017).
Trivia: 1991 was the first time two women were Tony-nominated for Best Director of a Musical in the same year: Reissa and Daniele.
In 1998, Julie Taymor became the first woman to win the Tony for Director of a Musical for her work on ''The Lion King.''
And that same year, coincidentally, Garry Hynes became the first woman to win Director of a Play for ''The Beauty Queen of Leenane.'' |
