If we're talking about legs - and just to be clear I think making an argument based upon box office is stupid, but let's do it - "The Lion King" grossed only slightly more than "Hamilton" even though it can sell about 3,000 extra seats a week, AND "Hamilton" was oversold last week (101% capacity) while "The Lion King" was slightly undersold (98%). In fact, if you want to look at numbers, "Hamilton" had the highest percent capacity last week, comparable to a recent Tony winning hit (MJ) and a soon-to-close cult musical (Evan Hansen).
If you think "Hamilton" doesn't have legs, you're deluding yourself. |
