I tend to fret about these things less than some but three things occur to me:
1. People in wheelchairs are not infrequently able to walk to some extent, especially with assistance. We see this all the time. In these cases, the wheelchair enhances mobility rather than replacing it. In more extreme cases, people can be carried. Laura somehow got into the apartment; a fortiori she could somehow get out. It certainly could make sense that she went to the store with Amanda; the script does not suggest they were shopaholics.
2. Elevators date back to the 19th Century. With and without electricity.
3. Tom says at the outset that this is a memory play and that thus that everything does not necessarily line up with what actually transpired. |
