It's very sad to find out he was attached to direct the film in the 90s and declined because he felt the screenplay was notable lesser than the original, and sanitized for American film audiences.
I don't think there's a director whose take on this show I'd be more excited to see come to life, on screen or on stage. I wish this production's run wasn't so short, there's almost no way I could make it there for this run but maybe it'll extend or transfer somewhere. |
