| I'm assuming. I was listening to the recording of the California revival of DO I HEAR A WALTZ' and having read SHY, it struck me that the anecdotes that having Mrs Rodgers object to the not so subtle description of her own marriage,could also be that the 3rd set of lines is a description of her daughter Mary's first marriage. I don't know if this requires a spoiler Alert, but I'll put one in anyway......SPOILER ALERT''..... in the 3rd set of lines, a marriage where "she's out in Reno" "lately he tends to/hit her." and "sometimes he's homosexual": could describe Mary Beaty's first marriage. and Dorothy would have recognized it. |
