Yes, we can "agree it works fine in the show but is a song that I can't recall any singer covering outside of the show."
HOWEVER--and let this open a thread if people so want it--I think it in no way disparages ANY song if it has not been covered by a singer outside of the show. Many songs only work well in their particular shows. In fact , a pet peeve of mine is when someone asks about a musical I'm praising "But what famous songs have come out of that work?"
And, by the way, DO RE MI is a favorite score of mine and "What's New At The Zoo" works perfectly. I wouldn't say I like it anywhere as much as "Little Lamb" however. |
