| I hear your point, but the crux of it is indeed that people have a thought about what Barbra sounds like, and Julie delivers that. I also hear the point that she's serving what Styne wrote, since Styne wrote the show for Barbra. We can debate the ouroboros as to which leads the other, but I think part of why people are so pleased is because she delivers what people expect from the part, which is in line with what Barbra did. |
