Until it becomes a pandemic of us all again. Let me see if I can explain, without sounding frustrated...
The unvaccinated are a primary reason why none of this is over or will be. I'm not playing the blame game. I'm strictly talking science and facts. The unvaccinated get the virus and pass it on to those that are vaccinated. Since the vaccine has made it so our immune system can fight the virus (not make us immune, but help make the symptoms not be so fatal), the virus then mutates. When you accumulate enough mutations, you get a variant. Fortunately, the vaccine has mostly been successful in helping to fight the variants. However, variants will continue to occur. All it takes is one new variant that the vaccine can't help fight and we're back to square one with the pandemic. Shut downs and quarantines will start again and a new vaccine will need to be developed.
I could and would love to be wrong about the shut downs and quarantines. It will ultimately depend on the severity of the variant. What I do know is that I personally prefer to be overly cautious, continue to wear a mask in public and be up to date with the vaccine than not take responsibility for my actions, be "sick and tired" and "over it" and not care at all.
To bring it back on topic, the privileged person in me would like to be able to see The Actors Fund Ragtime concert in 2023. :-)
Take care,
