There was a barber and his wife…and he was beautiful.
I was only somewhat familiar with the actual biography of Fanny Brice. As you’ve described her life, the story would make an interesting film or limited series, with songs confined to times wherein people sing in real life. (Although, in my real life I can break out into song at most anytime.). I believe the story strong enough to stand on its own without having the need to have heard of Fanny Brice. Heck, how many people that see FG under the age of sixty know of Fanny Brice? I refuse to think about how many people under the age of thirty know of Barbra Streisand as the answer might depress me. |
