I sat down on the steps of the original Borders in Ann arbor mi and read the play(I, later p]purchased Hist'..Of Am,. film); I thought to myself , the critics have it all wrong. He's mocking the selfish yuppies who \blame the church for all their adult problems. Later I read an interview with MR Durang, in which he stated that his play was indeed intended as an satire on the RC church
