| Interestingly (or perhaps not), Danieley at 52, is older than Cariou (33), William Daniels (46), George Lee Andrews (31), Joss Ackland (47), Peter McEnery (49) and Alexander Hanson (47 in London, 48 on Broadway) were when they first played the role in various major productions. At least if the dates of birth for them online are right and my arithmetic is right, too. Laurence Guittard, 56 when the Royal National production opened, was older. I guess boyishness remains forever for some people. William Goldman would agree. I would love to see Peil as Madame Armfeldt. |
