Was more about one example in the play that I guess I just didn’t get. Lion king is talking animals so in for a penny and in for a pound. I get the modern version of his mom marrying his uncle and fathers ghost returning was Shakespeare play made modern. But I just don’t get the fuss and by the end with the free dance I just wanted to escape the theater. Interesting perspective of queering Tyler perry work.
As for the score, I’m glad six won best score. But I do think loop has a good score that has many layers that I didn’t grasp until listening to it several times compared to doubtfire or Diana or even paradise square. I do wish I saw flying over sunset because of its uniqueness—too bad it won’t be done regionally or shown on pbs. |
