It's harmless. Rebecca Naomi Jones, late as Laurey in Daniel Fish's Oklahoma, is impressive as Rosalind.

I saw it Friday. Walked up to the box office after the line had dispersed at about 2:30 and got a very nice seat, without having to wait in line. That's been my experience. Either then or just before curtain. One time I walked up about 20 minutes before curtain and was seated next to Ben Brantley. Good seat. One year I was a member of the Public. And the "free" seat I got for that $500 contribution for the Park? The LAST row at the furthest side. I now take my chances. Best bet is during previews -- or, apparently, on reviewers' night. And the $500 contribution? Why bother? So that Oskar can make $2 million instead of $1 million.

Huge cast, gorgeous set, fun music, but light on the Shakespeare. It's aimed at the heart, and stops at nothing to entertain. I enjoyed it.

We saw it Sunday night after winning the lottery! I only say that because after years of doing on-line lottery for the Public, I finally won--I was beginning to think nobody actually won those things.

At any rate, if you saw the Public Works version of TWELFTH NIGHT, you know what you are in store for--lovely music, some of the same cast members, and lots of regular folks on stage who are having a blast.

I had nearly given up on AS YOU LIKE IT after seeing a dreadful version at CSC a few years ago with Ellen Burstyn, Cass Morgan, Kyle Scatliffe and Andre DeShields. This one restored my faith in the title.

My only quibble--the actress playing Celia was not up to the task--don't remember her name, but thought for sure she must be a community member and not equity--I was wrong. As a result, the story line of Celia and Oliver (Orlando's brother) is nearly swallowed up. I would also say the Phoebe/Silvius(Silvia) plot is given short shrift, or perhaps introduced too late given there is likely a lot of text that has been cut.

It was nice to see Darius DeHaas again!

Go see it if you can.

It's a fun delight. Slight, but probably the best you can expect from a version of "As You Like It". They chop out most of the (convoluted) plot and leave us the bare essentials, performed by a likable cast. Taub's songs are brisk and engaging, and the production moves swiftly through its paces. Not a must see, but certainly worth seeing.
