I think the content of HB is too sophisticated for many community theatre audiences. English schools and tests, for just one thing, are literally foreign. But I'm really referring to the literary and language references throughout the play.
I had a director friend and I asked why he never programed Company. He said it was too NYC-centric for our small southern town. He was probably right, at least at the time. |
