| Nothing personal, but I think it irresponsible to post anything on the internet that you yourself have not read. Make certain that is something you wish to share. We live in a world of overreacting to headlines and skimming. Read the article!! | |

| those expensive tix to Music Man sure are selling and Hamilton and Into The Woods both made over 2 mil last week If high prices were the problem, productions would lower them People's habits changed during covid - will take a while to change back, if they ever do |

| You're right.. there was a sea change of behaviours and attitudes and live theatre is part of that sector affected some people moved, They got accustomed to staying at home and watching Netflix. Two years is suffiecnt enough time to change habits. The 70+ pop may also still be spooked by COVID fewer tourists coming to NYC |

| That people will pay sky-high prices for three exceptional shows does not refute the argument that Broadway ticket prices are too high. People didn't pay those same prices, did they, or even much lesser prices, for all the shows from last season that closed. | |

| Yes,part of the problem is that only a very small number of shows can support current pricing. I don't know if Funny Girl is still doing this, but when it opened, the "regular" non-premium orchestra price was $269. And Take Me Out in its last weeks was at $299 for the entire orchestra, I believe. So Take Me Out was at TKTS at 40% off, and it was still something like $180. And Funny Girl's TKTS price wasn't that far behind. Add in the COVID risk, and for me at least, the days of "let me pop on over to TKTS and find something" are ending. Broadway has been moving towards event programming for a long time, but now it really is starting to feel that for the shows further down on the list... well, I'm just skipping them rather than figuring out how to see them. The budget won't allow it, and there's risk and hassle. And unfortunately, a lot of those shows I'm skipping are the "that sounds kind of interesting" play that Broadway really needs from the artistic side. But I can't support those shows in the way that I'd like anymore. |

| Ticket prices ARE a problem. Sure, the highest- priced shows like Music Man and Plaza Suite sold well. But folks who bought those tickets had less to spend on other shows they might have been interested in, and those other shows were too often overpriced without the lure of a Hugh Jackman or a Sarah Jessica Parker to rationalize hundreds of dollars a ticket. When the entire center orchestra is blocked out for premium pricing and when dynamic pricing discourages advanced planning, I don’t see how it can be denied that ticket prices have become high enough to discourage regular theatergoing. | |

| People going to see The Music Man probably don't have a problem buying anything. | |

| Oh, that’s not true. I splurged on Music Man and bought a ticket at the highest price I’d ever paid for a Broadway show (and will probably never pay as much again). The only other shows I saw last spring were American Buffalo which I had a sizable discount for and Take Me Out which I’d bought pre-pandemic. But that ate up my theater budget, so I sadly passed on Company and Hangman and a few other shows I would have considered had I had the bucks. | |

| The RUSH line for The Music Man is usually very busy, sometimes going around the block when box office opens. At $ 49 per ticket - and one can get a pair at that price- ( occasionally seats can be fairly good ones), people do take advantage of the offer. | |

| Agreed, although I feel this about so many recreational activates right now. Eating dinner out seems scandalously expensive (in Chicago) even for a basic meal. I think theater is in for a tough couple years particularly once we see corporations begin layoffs and such. I'm not saying it will be a 2007-8 situation, but I think people will be tightening their belts. |

| I haven't been since they lifted the mask mandate. I've already had COVID once, not risking it again to see a show right now. | |

| I agree. Concerts that would have been $55 in 2019 are now $125. Theatre seats that would have been $129 are now $229, if not more. I am no longer terribly worried about COVID but I am certainly being more choosy about what live performances I attend. | |

| For us, it’s still Covid. Too many medical issues, including immune-compromised family, to make us feel comfortable. Hoping for better days, as I’m longing to see THE SECRET GARDEN at the Ahmanson next year; have never seen a full stage production. Laura |

| Was thinking of going to Orlando to see Ben Platt. Huge Amway Arena and two rear floor seats are over $300. Outrageous. I'll watch his Radio City Music Hall show on Netflix again to get my Ben fix. | |

| $300? For BEN PLATT? I got much better Springsteen (2021) and Streisand (2019) tickets for less. Guess those acrylic nails and fake hair are expensive. | |

| If you're still in the area of really wanting to see something but don't want to pay a lot (and it wouldn't pain you too much if you missed it), try looking the day of, or the day(s) before. I got relatively inexpensive side seats for both much higher profile headliners Barbra Streisand and Paul McCartney shows on-line for their Brooklyn shows some years ago. | |

| Yup, in NYC too, CoVid fears are still my main reason. Here we have plenty of rush ticket options, but have the lottery of life place me next to/in front of unmasked people? NO WAY. | |

| I'd say that predicting future mask guidelines policies at present are akin to predicting whether the Dow Jones and S&P will go up or down at any particular time. That could change in the case of covid/masking if scientific advances in vaccines continue to improve and numbers of infections continue to decline. As for the financial markets, greed and fear don't ever go away. | |

| I saw less theater when masks were required because I found it unpleasant to wear a mask during a show. Now that masks aren’t required, I see less shows because I’m afraid I’ll catch COVID. | |
