VERY minor and VERY vague spoilers in my post below...
GMB, I'd love to read your post! I may have unintentionally given the impression that I was totally cold about this show or that I didn't like ANY of the music. That's certainly not the case. There were some songs that rose above the sameness of what I found a pretty uninspired pop-rock sound. I thought the penultimate memory song quite moving, for example. And, though I think this was much more about the arrangement and the musical PERFORMANCE of The Thoughts, I did find the ironic gospel number thrilling. The set reveal that accompanies that number added to the dramatic impact of that moment, no doubt.
