| I think only the tour show that did well in SF was Hadestown (because it's returning). It's really sad but when I called the member service to exchange my subscriber ticket for SIX, I was told that it's been advertised to stay until 4/9 but actually it'll close on 3/20 because the producers got the better offer from another city or don't think SF can support the show for that long. I was shocked. Even Frozen, it will come to Sacramento right after SF, so people from Sacramento won't go to see it in SF I guess. | |

| Harry Potter has also had a very disappointing run in San Francisco, and most of the Best of Broadway shows are heavily discounted on Goldstar and still playing to fairly empty theaters. The city had a very bad covid outbreak in April with the highest numbers in the country; only the last week have the numbers come down. People are staying away from crowded indoor venues. Also, the neighborhood for the Golden Gate is dangerous and unpleasant. The Orpheum has a major homeless encampments across the street. The Curran where Harry Potter plays is part of the downtown that has still not recovered from covid with many stores and restaurants closed and boarded up. San Francisco is no longer the great theatre town it once was for touring shows. | |

| Area is dangerous and unpleasant along Market Street that's very true. I stopped going to see shows because San Francisco has gone downhill. | |

| Perhaps the prices are too high. Also, tourists to NYC are willing to pay high prices, often for pretty crappy shows (That are gift wrapped with amazing sets and performances). If you’re living in SF, I doubt you’d be rushing off to see the shit Bway is producing now—Moulin Rouge being an example of such shit. |

| Which is way too long here. The subscription period is 4 weeks. There are lots of seats available after that period. The model that is better is 4-6 weeks and return later on for additional weeks like hadestown which I’m surprised is only one week next fall. Even before covid, they considered dropping to standard 3 weeks but they didn’t know how to accommodate the 4th week subscribers with good seats in a 3 week run. I really don’t think there is much crossover in the sac San Jose San Fran market. Some people my drive 90 minutes to go to other markets but I don’t think it’s that big of a number. |

| Sorry--I'm stupid--what is "MR?" I don't think you're referring to MISTER ROBERTS. | |

| "Moulin Rouge". I think the trouble for them on tour is that on top of being a large physical production on stage, they're trying to create some version of the immersive experience of Broadway on the road, which will involve a more complex load-in and load-out than the relatively smaller and more contained "Hadestown", so doing quick one-week stops is not as feasible. | |
