Harry Potter has also had a very disappointing run in San Francisco, and most of the Best of Broadway shows are heavily discounted on Goldstar and still playing to fairly empty theaters. The city had a very bad covid outbreak in April with the highest numbers in the country; only the last week have the numbers come down. People are staying away from crowded indoor venues. Also, the neighborhood for the Golden Gate is dangerous and unpleasant. The Orpheum has a major homeless encampments across the street. The Curran where Harry Potter plays is part of the downtown that has still not recovered from covid with many stores and restaurants closed and boarded up. San Francisco is no longer the great theatre town it once was for touring shows.
