| Saw four London shows last month, and while The Seagull, Patriots, and Jerusalem were terrific, Cabaret was a hugely disappointing, lethargic waste of time (and of course the most expensive ticket by far). None of the Act I numbers performed inside the club landed. Particularly useless was Fra Fee's wooden understudy or substitute as the Emcee. Finally, with the last number before intermission the performance woke up and Act II was much better, although the stretch between "Cabaret" and the end took forever. |
