| is a faithful recreation of the original sets and costumes - and staging (Gilbert's promptbooks, meticulously detailed, survive). After the film wrapped, the UK's Carl Rosa Opera Company acquired the sets and costumes, and now tour a recreation of the 1885 original Mikado in their repertoire. I saw it years ago at Theatre Royal Bath. Quite terrific. |
