First of all, it makes zero economic sense for the commercial producer of this show to give up prime real estate to LCT member tickets. Such a proposal unquestionably would have been turned down if proposed. As you say, LCT could have refused to make a "bad" deal. That's true, but what are the alternatives? I see three. 1. They could have produced a show [but that costs money]. 2. They could have secured better seats for a different show [e.g., Kite Runner, but I doubt that would satisfy the members any more (and maybe less)]. 3. They could have done nothing [which would have elicited even greater outrage around here].
I am on record as not being enamored of the LCT leadership but sometimes one has to put things in context. As they used to ask on some TV show, what would you do? |
