I strongly suspect the internationally known French writer who defeated me has not had the outpouring of love in his congratulation notices as I have here.
It’s a cliché, but it’s true: it was a terrific, unexpected honor to be a finalist. That the Committee recognized an alternate history that’s really alternate MUSICAL THEATRE HISTORY is astonishing.
And I will be thrilled to hang my Finalist certificate next to Harry’s Sidewise Awards; he won the very first one, for RULED BRITANNIA (in which Shakespeare and Lope de Vega collide in Spanish-occupied England!).
Thanks again, all!
