| I agree with Dramedy. I was really hoping for Leopoldstadt through LCT. I have no interest in Ohio State Murders. And the ticket for Leopoldstadt are steep, notwithstanding modest discounts for crappy seats. | |

| The show is expected to do exceptionally well. Why would a producer sell LCT tickets at a wholesale price that they can sell at retail? LCT does not get the pick of the litter in terms of what shows they can cut a deal with. What I am getting from the response to the present situation is that the model LCT has been employing in this century may have run its course. |

| And it is one of the most successful plays on broadway. I think clybourne park was an offering and that was a Pulitzer winning play. I think a view from the bridge by director ivo van hove was a good offering. Falsettos and glass menagerie (sally field) may not have been as strong. But sound inside was a tony finalist. So I would disagree that the co-produced shows are the dregs. Furthermore, LCT has presented many Stoppard plays that may not have ever made it to broadway like utopia, Arcadia and invention of love n The Link lists shows at other theater than lct complex But many are commercial transfers or theater rented LCT productions like the nance and women on the verge. |

| I did not suggest, did I, that any of these shows were "the dregs"? What I was referring to was the assessment of a commercial producer as to the value of a show that LCT bought tickets for, to sell to its members. And for each producer, that's an individual calculus. It's also important to avoid confounding different types of deals. In the case of the present show, LCT is not a co-producer; it is a purchaser of tickets at a discount. (What I called a wholesale purchase, which could also be made, for example, with a broker.) Mockingbird had LCT as a producer. That's a major difference. As I keep saying, every deal is different and for each of the shows you mention, you can see what the basic arrangement looks like. Women of the Verge, for example, had LCT as the only producer. LCT was not a producer on Clybourne, which had its own back story. And so on. But the important point I make here is that I was not saying anything qualitative about any of the literary properties. |
