This may be vastly overthinking a mundane question - but Jack DOES continually refer to Milky White as “he” (and is often corrected by his mother, at that).
Perhaps the anthropological interpretation is through Jack’s vantage point - and he would see Milky White’s expressions as from a fellow “boy,” as that is how he has imagined Milky White’s personality. |
