revisiting Chicago 25 years later

i had wanted to see Brian Victor Dixon as Billy Flynn and he didn't disappoint. This was the 9th time I had seen Chicago on Broadway starting with the original production back in 1975. The production was in much better shape than when I last saw it in 2008 when it seem sloppy. I wasn't impressed with Angelica Ross although she could dance and was perfectly professional. I had never seen Amra Faye Wright although she had apparently played the role for many years. She was fine but seem one note to me. More impressive was Charity Angel Dawson's Mama Morton. She and Brian Victor Dixon were the standouts. For a show that has been running for 25 years I thought it was in very good shape. The dancer numbers were beautifully executed. I took a 19 year old who did not know the show at all and he gave it a 7 out of 10.
