Funny you should mention Ms. Watson being able to pull off roles being much older than the character. Back in the early nineties the show SHE LOVES ME was produced by two different theatres during the same season. A lackluster production at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles starred Pam Dawber who was then in her twenties and was well known at the time for MORK AND MINDY. Her light soprano voice was unimpressive. A few months later the show played at the Pasadena Auditorium starring a well in her forties Watson. She was wonderful in the role and you never once felt the bloom was off the rose watching her. Plus it's very easy for a woman to read much younger on the stage as noted (think Mary Martin in SOUND OF MUSIC or I DO! I DO!). Watson's vocals were perfection and as pleasurable as Cook's singing on the OBC album. Coincidently, around the same time, I got to see Ms. Watson recreating another Cook role in THE GRASS HARP. Another show well suited for an older woman.
