Aspects of Love is derived in its most essential from the novella by David Garnett. Garnett was a member of the bohemian Bloombury group, of which Virginia Woolf was the most prominent member. The intertwining romantic stories/entanglements in the show are 100% taken from the novella.
But I am a great fan of the musical score of ASPECTS OF LOVE, including how gorgeously the songs are performed. The music is lyrical, poignant, and achingly romantic.
It is interesting to note that the song Chanson d' Enfance came from an original melody that a 9-yr old Andrew Lloyd Webber was supposed to have written.
I was lucky to have seen the original show in London and on Broadway!
