I was surprised at how much I liked it. I think the "modern lens" (I won't use the w-word) works very well. And it really could have happened back in that time period.
I wasn't planning on seeing it, but grabbed a TDF ticket for curiousity's sake and I'm glad I saw it. I could quibble (too, too much tap-dancing, and the slamming doors finale seemed really drawn out to me), but it's a crowd pleaser, and I'm fine with that. I thought the score was very good - a hit single in there, no, but of course not. The music is big and fun. |
