SLIH does strive to be a crowd pleaser and that’s what stops it from becoming the Grade A musical of which it has the potential to be. Each and every musical number must be that crowd pleaser. I can believe that I’m writing this but, there was too much tap dancing. Little choreographic diversity. Although I enjoyed the score the musical numbers began to sound the same and look the same. A few stand outs. Thoroughly enjoyed the title tune.

A special shout out to Kevin Del Aguila as Osgood. The role as written is stereotypical, however Del Aguila was having fun with the role and took us along for the ride. How should JHG be nominated? Does the role or the actor take precedence when determining a nomination? The answer? Great question. I don’t know. However it is an excellent opportunity for open and honest discussion. I guess we really know the answer. The powers that be will not decrease the number of actor award categories.

As a crowd pleaser SLIH did its job. I was entertained.
