As stated below, this was done on the company of the 2001 42nd Street revival and was mentioned quite often in their marketing when it addressed the technical elements of the show. Not sure when this first came to use, but it is quite common these days.
Generally speaking, it's more difficult to notice on the ensemble, particularly the women where the microphone cable can be blended in to create the seam on the back of the leg for a pair of hose, etc. |
