Assuming for sake of argument that there was a time when there was such a distinction, that certainly is not the case today and that strikes me as one of many good reasons to stop giving awards based on one's sex (whether consistent with that at birth or not). There are no minefields here. Any such idea just seems like a symptom of a misogynistic mindset.
