Awards aren’t “sensible”, or even truly necessary. They exist because people enjoy competition. They’re fun because it’s exciting to see who will win. Separating male acting awards from female acting awards doubles the competitions. To abolish the separation between male and female acting awards might make a sort of political sense to some, but it would make the awards ceremony less entertaining and popular. And awards ceremonies exist for the same reason sporting events exist, because it’s fun to see people compete against each other.
Make it less enjoyable and less people will watch. |
