Sorry to read about your awful experience with that audience member. The ushers are volunteers and are usually sitting and watching the play. You did the right thing imo not confronting the gyro guy and amplifying the disturbance. Obviously not convenient or even possible but I'll bet if you had left and complained out front they would have either reseated you or comped you for another performance. When I saw this amazing production recently, I had a seating issue and they couldn't have been more helpful.
As for DOWNSTATE, I put it at the top of my list of shows I've seen since I recently returned to theater-going. A short synopsis doesn't do justice to the authenticity, depth and complexity of the writing and its ability to inspire identification with the characters. And the cast and direction are beyond brilliant. |
