I agree that there is not one canonical version of many shows, but the way in which you presented the point did not suggest that you were using anything but the stage script (which does have slight variants and a couple of not-so-slight variants from different versions but not this variant), or were aware of it.

If anything, it would have been a point to make: Did John Logan change this for that specific purpose?

I'd say that Prince's Cabaret is more important because there is no Fosse Cabaret without Prince's Cabaret. Prince was the driving force behind it, he conceptualized it in the first place.
